You don't have to disrespect and insult others simply to hold your own ground. If you do, that shows how shaky your own position is.

Every word I write is like a drop of my blood. If it's flowed passionately and long, I need time to recover from the emotion spent before I begin a new story. My characters are aspects of my life. I have to respectfully and carefully move between them.

I write to believe in goodness.

Men can have an obvious display of heroics or strength or accomplishment, but it is the unsung women throughout all ages of humankind who have endured with superlative strength, beauty and love, often with secret suffering, that deserve absolute respect and acknowlegement. They are the true heroes of humanity. They are the champions who have birthed and nurtured us, who have held us together at the most integral level, when men seemed intent only on tearing apart the fabric of life for irrelevant ideals.

Whatever your difficulty, whatever your hardship in life: Dance and make the song you sing your prayer. Sing it courageously, and with each step strengthen yourself with the knowledge and wisdom of your elders, so that whatever next happens, you can survive and not lose your rhythm.

Understand indigenous healing will also heal other nations and peoples. We've all been living on broken ugly systems built on genocide and slavery. Strengthening and empowering others, in whatever capacity, also helps the self.

Loyalty, while it can be admirable is also conditional. Dependent on forces inside and out, on perceptions, on likes and dislikes. It can be misguided and flawed, even dumb depending on circumstance.Integrity, however, has no conditions. It cannot be earned. It is not based on circumstance, but on inherent strength, belief and purpose. To be called loyal isn't necessarily a compliment. Hitler's henchman were loyal. To be recognized for integrity is a true honor.

I continue to be surprised by judgmental native stereotypes and apathy, but if I wasn't that would mean I'd become accustomed and tolerant. I don't want to stop being surprised. I just want them to stop.
