Belief isn’t something you can be reassured about. It’s something that has to come from inside.

It’s hard to see yourself changing until you’re so far from the person you used to be that it’s hard to remember ever being them at all.

But unlike Lachlan and Alison, my demons aren’t self-induced. My demons are fate’s way of telling me I won’t escape unscathed.

If only either of us knew the challenges a simple word like forever could bring.

I loved him in that moment more than I thought possible, but it would end when this night did. We might chase the phantoms of these feelings for a while afterward, but in the end we’ll concede defeat and move on. Nothing is meant to last past its novelty.
